Graduate Engineers

Westhill, Aberdeenshire or Tonbridge, Kent based

Jee is looking for graduate engineers who have achieved a 2.1 or higher Master?s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Civil Engineering, Naval Architecture or Aeronautics to start September 2019.

We are passionate about training and development and will support you to achieve your career goals. All our graduate engineers join our MPDS to achieve Chartered Engineer status. We?re a growing company bringing new challenges and opportunities to graduates. Your role will be to produce calculations, reports and presentations for our clients on:

  • design for major offshore projects

  • integrity management of existing subsea infrastructure for operators

  • development and testing of products for manufacturers

  • research into new technologies for operators, including joint industry projects

You will also be given increasing levels of project responsibility, depending on performance, and will develop customer facing roles. You will work in small teams, learning from the experienced engineers. You will be expected to contribute to all aspects of the project from identifying the opportunity to presenting the conclusions to the client.

The work is office-based with occasional travel within UK and abroad. If you have the aptitude, there are opportunities in computational analysis (FEA and CFD), in presenting training courses, and in software development.

The role will involve the following responsibilities:

Field of work

  • Subsea pipelines, spools, risers, flexibles, and umbilicals

  • Subsea systems: trees, controls, manifolds, steelwork

  • Jackets, floating production, landfalls, landlines

Technical work

  • Data search, review and analysis

  • Preparing engineering calculations, particularly on Excel and Mathcad

Writing reports, specifications and procedures

  • Preparing and giving presentations to clients on work done

  • Input to drawings and interface with CAD

  • FEA analysis

  • Working within QMS, suggesting improvements, quality audits

  • Consultancy at client?s offices: problem solving, risk assessments

Supervision and Leadership

  • Assisting in the induction of graduate engineers

  • Leading small project teams

Subcontractors and purchasing

  • Monitoring progress for on-time delivery

  • Integrating their work/product with ours

Project Management

  • Planning and costs schedules

  • Reporting and progress assessment

  • Client interface for data, progress, queries

  • Typical project value up to £30,000

Sales and account management

  • Writing proposals

  • Acting as account manager for medium customer

Qualifications & experience

  • 2.1 or higher Master?s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Civil Engineering, Naval Architecture or Aeronautics

  • Right to work in the UK


Experience in the oil & gas industry

Experience of working within an office environment

Skills & personal attributes

  • Maths: Algebra, calculus and spreadsheets

  • English: able to write clearly with correct grammar and syntax

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • A self-starter with the willingness to learn

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to prioritise
