St Helens & Knowsley Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is one of the leading acute Trusts in the North West of England. We provide a full range of acute adult services to our local population of circa 350,000 and provide tertiary services across a much wider area in the North West, North Wales and Isle of Man. We are a Major Trauma Unit and the Mersey Regional Burns Unit.

The department sees over 100,000 new patients a year of which 22,000 are paediatric. There is 24-hour middle grade cover and consultant cover from 0800 until 2300 weekdays and weekend mornings.



The post holder will contribute to the Emergency Service at Whiston Hospital participating in the initial assessment, treatment, referral and disposition of patients attending the Emergency Department.



They will develop skills in managing the department to avoid unnecessary patient waits and maintain good clinical care to all patients.



The post holder should have MB, ChB or equivalent, Knowledge and interest in Emergency Care, able to organise and manage clinical priorities and must be fully registered with the GMC.



This post will be subject to an Enhanced DBS (with barred list for vulnerable adult?s and children?s disclosure).
