An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Psychologist to join the Psychology team at Badby Park. The post will include working with residents with acquired and progressive neurological disorders as part of a transdisciplinary team. The role will include psychological assessment and intervention under the supervision of a Consultant Clinical Psychologist, as well as opportunities to deliver training and be involved in research and clinical audit. As part of the Psychology team, professional development is encouraged and supported through supervision, training and CPD.



Badby Park is a care centre set amidst 58 acres of beautiful parkland on the edge of Daventry, near Northampton. Accommodation is split across three individual units providing specialist and integrated pathways for resident with complex levels of needs. The successful candidate will join an expert transdisciplinary team including nursing, healthcare assistants, psychology, speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, neuropsychiatry and music therapy. The service utilises nationally accredited standardised outcome measures to assess, plan, monitor and evaluate resident’s progress.



Our Assistant Psychologist role involves:



  • Supporting qualified psychologists in the provision of the psychology services within the hospital

  • Contributing to psychological assessment and psychological interventions under the supervision of a qualified psychologist

  • Undertaking relevant audits, collecting, analysing and reporting on a range of statistics

  • Undertaking collaborative research projects

  • Devising and undertaking teaching and training of staff

  • Carrying out administrative duties

  • Engaging with the transdisciplinary team and ensuring that the patient is fully engaged in their care pathway


To be successful as an Assistant Psychologist, you’ll need:



  • A BPS accredited recognised degree in Psychology conferring Graduate Basis for Registration (GBR)

  • Awareness and ability to meet the professional practice expectations and BPS code of ethics

  • Experience of working with clients in a similar or related field

  • Experience of having completed self-directed research

  • An ability to be a responsive and responsible supervise, by attending scheduled supervision and seeking support as and when required outside of these times

  • To produce work in a timely manner meeting required timescales

  • An ability to work effectively as a team member

  • An excellent working knowledge of MS Office and SPSS

  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral) taking into account the audience

  • Excellent interpersonal skills
