Head of Engagement Full Time

Index Exchange is looking for a Head of Engagement to join as a strategic leader of our global Marketing and Communications team. This person will be responsible for positioning and elevating the Index Exchange name, company and brand in all markets around the globe and must have an in-depth knowledge of ad tech products; you will not be considered for this role without extensive pre-existing product and industry knowledge. In this role, you will lead three international teams in Product Marketing, Communications, and Content, working closely with existing leaders of each of those divisions, delivering a full suite of B2B marketing, PR and communications output to support the Index Exchange business units globally. Reporting into the global Head of Marketing and Communications, this role will oversee our content, communications and product marketing pillars as well as many key leaders across the breadth Index Exchange to successfully define and implement our global marketing strategies.

This person will be working closely with our executive team, including the heads of MarComm, Product, Demand and Sell side, and needs to have a great deal of experience taking a product to market. Your peers will be our Head of Experience (events & creative) as well as our Head of International, and you’ll work closely with them to ensure the Engagement team’s projects are strategically implemented globally. You’ll oversee the current team of 12 with additional growth expected. IX operates in a disruptive space where innovation and change are the only certainties. To be successful, you will need to develop strategies for understanding and explaining complex products as well as working with global technology leaders and people from an array of different cultures. A true understanding of how international markets operate - with a prime focus on EMEA & APAC - is required for this position. Travel will be required between major hubs like New York, San Francisco, London, Toronto and more.

You will:

  • Be responsible for successfully executing all marketing and communications efforts and overseeing a large global team

  • Play a significant role in our company’s mission to democratize digital advertising and utilizing all avenues of our engagement team to promote our products, including but not limited to media relations, thought leadership, IX on Air content studio, social media, video production, marketing campaigns, case studies, and whitepapers

  • Focus on gathering customer and market insights, influencing our strategic product roadmap, and leading go-to-market strategy for our suite of products

  • Drive product positioning across key market segments and geographies, leveraging your deep understanding of ad tech products, our nuanced customer base and be able to effectively incorporate strategies into individual markets

  • Be a strong people leader with exceptional communication skills. You must have managed a large global team, with reports in multiple countries, and you must have experience building a team (and enjoy it!) We’re looking for a really strong people manager who understands the nuances of running a global team

  • Have a deep understanding of working with product teams to determine product messaging. You have a proven track record of scaling successful, analytical marketing and/or communications organizations and of influencing strategy across large product and marketing organizations


You must:

  • Have an in-depth knowledge of the AdTech/Programmatic industry on a global scale. Candidates who know enough to get by in the industry will not be considered. You must be an expert. Your knowledge will be tested in the interview process

  • Have significant experience both leading and growing a global team

  • Have experience collaborating with other team leads to execute the overall team goals as established by the CEO and global Head of Marketing and Communications, in tandem with your fellow MarComm team leads

  • Be able to understand, explain and execute on product materials

  • Build, execute, and oversee the implementation of a MarComm product roadmap alongside our senior directors on the engagement team

  • Have a comprehensive understanding of marketing and have experience taking your marketing & communications skills and implementing them into the best product release strategy

  • Be able to maintain an acute attention to detail in a very fast paced working environment

  • Own messaging in partnership with the regional MarComm teams and product teams while maintaining the Index Exchange voice throughout materials
