Purpose of the role summary

The purpose of this role is to assist the Warehouse Management Team in owning, maintaining and developing the day to day management of people and processes to ensure there is a smooth operation within the Warehouse, with a focus on delivering an exceptional service to customers both internally and externally.

Key Duties / Responsibilities

  • Manage the efficient and smooth running of the teams within all departments of the Warehouse operation
  • Manage and coach the Warehouse team to deliver continuous improvement in productivity and efficiency
  • Liaise with the Supply Chain teams on a daily basis to monitor and improve processes
  • Contribute towards the continuous improvement of KPI’s and Warehouse processes including performance against budget, receiving turnaround, fulfilment on picking, pick productivity and error rates, shrinkage and stock take results
  • Manage the daily/weekly staff budget and headcount in line with agreed targets, including the Christmas staffing plan whilst controlling overtime and agency staff levels
  • Contribute towards the planning of key trading periods
  • Plan any MHE training for all employees as and when required
  • Manage all people management processes within the team including but not limited to recruitment, induction, training, absence and lateness
  • Regularly review performance with both permanent and seasonal temporary employees. Where appropriate ensure that objectives are set and development plans are in place
  • Promote engagement within the Warehouse
  • Build and maintain relationships with key internal and external customers
  • Assisting with the Warehouse stock takes on a regular basis using the warehouse management system (WMS), this includes preparation, entry of stock levels, analysis and investigating discrepancies
  • Ensure all process maps and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are reviewed regularly and amended if required in line with best practice
  • To maintain high housekeeping standards by clearing rubbish, and making sure the work space is clean and tidy
  • Maintain high standards of Health & Safety, and security at all time in line with company policies and promote Health and Safety awareness within team
  • Provide support and holiday cover as and when required for any department within the Retail and Ecommerce operation
  • Promote and maintain The Perfume Shop’s culture through management style and regular communication with your team
  • To assist in any areas of the Warehouse where workload required

· Flexible approach to duties and tasks

· Good understanding of customer deliverables and the impact of failure / cost of poor quality or service


· FLT Licence

· Previous experience of working within a Retail Warehouse

· Previous Line Management responsibility
