Senior Consultant Full Time

The position

The transition to the low carbon economy requires long term strategic thinking in order to construct and implement sustainable, cost effective long term plans. This is equally true for both the public and private sector. As a Senior Consultant - Climate Scenarios and Strategies , you will help our clients develop long term decarbonisation strategies and tools which enable them to assess and prioritse actions.

You will help clients to:

  • Interpret climate scenario models and assess possible pathways

  • U nderstand and implement policies and strategies consistent with the Paris Agreement

  • Disaggregate targets into sector-specific goals, taking into account the potential, costs and benefits and specific challenges each sector faces

  • Understand potential long term impacts of climate change under different scenarios and impact on business / policy models

  • Benchmark targets against peers and competitors

  • Identify feasible and appropriate mitigation options and priorities based on marginal abatement cost curves

  • Develop mitigation pathways based on bottom-up analysis of mitigation options and assessing the ease of implementation in specific national contexts

  • Model different emissions abatement options by developing marginal abatement cost curves (MACC)

  • Use scenarios and models to assess climate risks to their business operations

  • Develop climate strategies, including investment framework and criteria to steer investment decisions towards a low risk, low carbon future

Your clients will be across both the public and private sector.

You will be responsible for business development, client management, thought leadership and project delivery. Our work for in this sector is rapidly growing and you will be capable of adding to this growth, inspiring others, making use of the available synergies within the company and your external network. Some international travel is expected.

Your profile

If you are enthusiastic about the job described above and you meet the following criteria, then we would be happy to meet you.

  • Advanced degree in economics, or energy/climate-related disciplines;

  • 5 or more years of relevant professional?experience, preferably in the field of energy or climate change with a strong emphasis on building and interpreting analytical models;

  • Working knowledge of climate change and international climate policy;

  • A proven ability to translate and communicate complex analytical messages to non-technical audiences

  • Proven record of business development;

  • Strong conceptual, as well as quantitative and qualitative analytical skills;

  • Demonstrated?excellence in solving problems that require logical reasoning, creative?thinking, and strong analytics;

  • Excellent project management skills and?experience with managing big projects; extensive proposal writing and presentation skills;

  • Proactive personality with experience in building teams and coaching and developing others;

  • Ability to?communicate clearly, and gain the respect of clients and?colleagues;

  • Proven?ability to lead teams and motivate others to deliver results;

  • Excellent?English language skills and ability to work in English; knowledge of another language, especially German, Dutch,?French or Spanish, is beneficial.
